ok so i am back home now! it feels weird to say that because houston has felt like my home this whole summer. a quick update on how the summer ended:
immediately after vbs had ended i already missed my kids! they are the most wonderful group
of 5 year olds in the world! saying goodbye was hard, but they made me feel special for sure! :)

after the last week of vbs i went with the Impact youth group to Tulsa for their mission trip as a chaperone. it was an amazing trip and a great way to end the summer. these highschoolers have led incredible lives and show love like i have never experienced.
i have made amazing friends here that will last a lifetime, i couldnt have asked for a better group of interns. i hope my youth group here can go next summer and spend a week there!

i cant wait to go back next year and pour out more love on those beautiful kids.

wow, i cant believe that ive been here 3 weeks already!!! time has just flown by! the first two weeks were reading camp and this past week was the first week of vbs. it all has been amazing! i have already fallen in love with the kids here, they are precious. the other college interns that i work with here are also wonderful. we have so much fun together! i dont know what i would do without them! :)
and im pretty sure that i now know downtown houston way better than downtown dallas! my roommate and i pick up kids sunday-thursday and are all over houston in those 15 passenger vans! lol, driving them was scary at first, but now we're pretty much pros :) Ive even learned how to read a map!
we are completely exhausted by the end of the day, but its all worth it. its so much fun getting to sing fun songs with the kids and spend lots of time teaching them to read all day! they love giving big hugs and they are perfect examples of unconditional love. im sure that i will leave this summer feeling like i was the one who learned everything.

so far so good... :D

im here im here!
today was the first day for the interns to all meet and get all the info we need for the rest of this summer! june is Reading Camp and July is VBS. i am sooo excited! my vbs group is great, its a mix of high school and college interns. at the moment me and erin, (my awesome roommate) are sitting in my car outside of the Heights Branch Public Library. its the only way for us to get an internet connection! lol. once we start getting a feel for the territory i think we'll have more confidence to go out exploring, but right now we've gotten lost so many times i thnk we need a rest right now! this saturday is a completely free day for the interns so im sure we'll all get together to hang out. the good thing is that a lot of the interns are very familiar with houston! so cross your fingers for erin and i as we hope to not get lost too much more. we are very blessed with the place where we are staying at, it is only 5-10 minutes away from the church!
the first thing on the agenda tomorrow is a prayer walk that all of the interns will do throughout the rooms of the church building. so i ask that you please keep Impact Church of Christ in your prayers as we begin this amazing summer!
oh....and i have one more prayer request....i as well as a few other girl interns must drive some chruch vans this summer to pick up the kids on our route. we are terrified!!! these vans are very old and we have heard many stories of them breaking down! and of course there is the fear of us getting completely lost! lol.....so remember us as we are definitely getting out of our comfort zone this summer! :D
there is so much more to tell and to come! i am so so ready to get started! tomorrow we start decorating for reading camp, fun fun!
thank you for your prayers and for your support.
Love yall ;)

OK so.... i am supposed to be doing my paper for my Campus Ministry class tomorrow but instead I'm fiddling away at the computer. story of my life. :)
this class I'm taking is a training requirement for World Wide Witness, which is the organization that helped me get the internship in Houston. and i really am enjoying this class....even though it goes from 8am-5pm!!!
i leave for Houston on June 12 and i can't wait! i have heard so many good things about it from many different people. i am a little nervous about going somewhere for this long when i don't really no anyone else. but i just know that God is going to bless and use me in so so many ways while i am there!
one thing that i feel truly blessed about is that a lot of the money that i need for the trip has been raised! to all of the people that responded to my support letters and graciously donated money, i thank you SO much! i pray that God blesses you ten times over!
And if you can still donate, i would be more than happy to recieve! :)
i ask now for one more thing- i hope that you will continue to keep me (as well as Impact Church of Christ) in your prayers as God continues to mold and transform me in my spiritual growth.
i hope this blog will be helpful in keeping you updated as i go through this amazing experience :)
